Benjamine (Ed) Edward Carpenter, II
Ed Carpenter has been working in the HR field for over 30 years and is the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Superior Van & Mobility and is based in their corporate office in Louisville KY. Superior Van & Mobility is an industry leader providing state-of-the-art mobility solutions for the consumer and commercial transportation industry and a proud member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. Ed provides full support for all human resources functions for the company’s 16 locations in South Bend IN, Ft. Wayne IN, Indianapolis IN, Evansville IN, Louisville KY, Lexington KY, Knoxville TN, New Orleans LA, Baton Rouge LA, Omaha NE, Pensacola FL, Montgomery AL, Fayetteville AR, North Little Rock AR, and Jonesboro AR
Ed has been a member of SISHRM since shortly after the chapter was formed. He has served as the Chapter Certification Director and Workforce Readiness Director for several years and most recently as President Elect for the chapter. Ed attended IU Southeast, is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified, and has been an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech co-teaching the SHRM Certification Prep Course for several years. He recently served on the Region 10 Workforce Investment Board in various board postions overseeing WorkOne offices and funding covering a six county local area. As an avid gardener and woodworker, he and his wife Patsy enjoy living in the rural hills of Washington County and enjoy supporting their daughter Amanda's business, Amazing Grace Digital Photography & Imaging.
Ed also serves as the SHRM Foundation Director for HR Indiana SHRM (Indiana State Council) to increase awareness of the SHRM Foundation and coordinate donation efforts within Indiana to support the Foundation.
As President of SISHRM, Ed's role is to provide leadership to the local chapter consistent with state, regional, and SHRM policy, strategies and objectives. Effectively operate the chapter so that the needs of the members are met. Perform other duties as required by the local chapter's bylaws. Serve as a voting member of the state council. Ed also serves on the board for HR Indiana SHRM as the SHRM Foundation Director.
As Treasurer of SISHRM, this role acts as financial officer and advisor to chapter board of directors. Maintains the chapter mailbox and distributes mail to the appropriate officer, director, or chair. Send dues notices and other invoices to members. File appropriate forms and information with IRS.
Director of Membership
Lea S Bottorff
As Director of Membership, this role manages the membership function to successfully achieve an increase in chapter membership. Lea and her membership team provide new chapter orientations in conjunction with the Director of Communications and successfully maintains the membership database.
Director of External Relations
Hope Carder is the Administrative Manager at Chemtrusion Inc, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Chemtrusion Inc. specializes in compounding plastics and provides manufacturing support to Mytex Polymers. In this role, Hope oversees Human Resources and Accounting. Hope has 15 years of Human Resource experience with the majority being in manufacturing. Hope also sits on the Board of Directors at Southern Indiana Works, formerly known as the Region 10 Workforce Investment Board. Their mission is to lead a robust talent development system and cultivate a skilled workforce that advances our community, economy and quality of life.
Hope has been married to her husband Ray for 26 years. They have two grown children, Cameron and Caleb. In their spare time, Hope and her family enjoy traveling. Her favorite form of travel is cruising. She is also an active member of Northside Christian Church in New Albany and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Director of Certification
Mary Rone is the Human Resource & Benefits Manager for Dr Black's Eye Associates, headquartered in Jeffersonville, IN. She has over 24 years of Human Resource experience as a generalist. Mary’s main work experience has been in small privately held companies where she was the “One-Stop” HR Manager specializing in a wide range of HR functions including OSHA compliance, Recruiting, Onboarding, Payroll, Performance Management, Benefit Design and Execution. Mary started her HR career with employee staffing giant, Kelly Services. She has been with Dr Black's since July of 2020. She and her husband, Greg, are active members of First Baptist Church, Charlestown, IN. Their family consists of two married children, and two "perfect" grandchildren! Mary’s hobbies are decorating her new home, reading mystery novels, swimming and being a Grandma.
As the Certification Director will handle all chapter programming certifications and assist members with obtaining or recertifying.
As Secretary of SISHRM, this role is to take minutes of board meetings and actions, provide notice of meetings and general correspondence to the board. Maintain chapter records and history, in addition to making sure the chapter completes and hits all goals that pertain to our SHAPE initiatives.
Roshni is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. moved to Louisville, KY in 2006 and went to U of L to study Operations Management. Then, transferred to IUS in favor of HR management and graduated from IUS with a degree in HR. Currently working for Amatrol, Inc since February, 2018 as an HR Recruiter.
As the Hospitality Director, Roshni will welcome new members into the chapter and coordinate the logistics of monthly membership meetings and our annual conference
Workforce Readiness/College Relations
Karen Goodwell, JD, SHRM-SCP, a native of New Albany, graduated from DePauw University in 1981. After graduating from the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis (McKinney School of Law) in December 1984, Karen was admitted to the Indiana Bar in early 1985. Since 1985 Karen’s practice covered various aspects of employment law for both corporate and individual clients. In January of 2018 Karen accepted the position of Director of Human Resources for Clark County Government. St. John Presbyterian Church and the Presbytery of Ohio Valley occupy many off duty hours through community and church functions. Karen and Bob, her husband of 35 years, have two adult children, who both married wonderful spouses. Bob and Karen recently became grandparents.
As Workforce Readiness Chair, this role monitors and evaluates local activities concerning workforce readiness issues and plans and encourages chapter involvement and activities impacting the workforce readiness arena. Communicates with local faculty/colleges to provide classroom visits to discuss HR topics, the Chapter, internships/scholarships, SHRM membership, etc. Acts as mentor to college students seeking a career in HR.
Director of Communications
Sean Mitchell Riley
Sean works for Assured Partners with a background in the design and implementation of self-funded and fully insured benefit plans for employer groups.
Sean is a graduate from The University of Louisville, with a B.A. in Business Marketing. Sean is a licensed agent in life, health, property and casualty insurance. Sean enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his children, Henry and Lucie
As Director of Communications, Sean will provide timely and comprehensive information to chapter members about programs, workshops, and other matters of interest via chapter publications. Create and maintain a favorable image of the chapter working for the professional development of its members by: (a) keeping membership informed of chapter projects, activities and upcoming meetings, and (b) disseminating relevant professional information viewed as beneficial to the members. Director of Technology
Susan Foster Woods
As Director of Technology, Susan will manage and maintain the SISHRM website, research and make recommendations for the chapter's technology needs. She will also assist in set up for any meetings. Susan Woods is the Director of Recruitment for Talis Group, Inc. and has been helping regional manufacturers hire talented professional for over 25 years. Susan served on the Board for One Southern Indiana for 6 years and has been a member of SISHRM since 2007. She often speaks to local associations regarding recruitment and career development. and facilitates an HR Roundtable in River Ridge. Erica Sharp began her career in Human Resources with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in dialing for dollars and working her way up to Human Resources. From St. Jude to Lightyear as a Client Account Manager for. This led her to a career with Humana, where she is was for 14+ years. In November of 2016 Erica moved to AssuredPartners as an Employee Benefit Consultant. In February of 2019 she moved to the Specialty Sales Executive role with Anthem of Kentucky. Erica majored in Business Administrative and Management from Indiana University-Southeast. She is very active in community serving as co-Chair of the USACares Gala, and serving on the OneSI board. Erica is a resident of Floyds Knobs, IN and enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt and her children, Dustin , Laney, and Tyler In her spare time Erica enjoys running, in the early morning hours, with her friends, participating in many races local and surrounding states.
As Past President, they will advise the president and other officers and members of the board of directors regarding past practices, general operations, and other matters to assist in the smooth operation of the chapter. Past President is a non-voting board role
Director of Programming
Matthew Robert Murry
Matt Murry is the owner of Touchdown Business Solutions, a New Albany-based Full-Service Recruitment and Consulting firm specializing in manufacturing and engineering solutions. Prior to starting TBS, Matt spent time as an HR professional in the Lumber & Building Materials and Paper Converting industries. He is a graduate of IU Southeast (where he is pursuing his MBA) and Brownstown Central High School. Matt is a legacy HR professional, following in his father Mike’s footsteps. He is married to Mallory, who works as a Special Education Implementation Coach in JCPS, and they have one fur-baby, a cat named Tux.
As Programming Chair of SISHRM, Matt is in charge of all of the programming for the year 2020 and will eventually move into the President Elect role for 2021.
